SpiraTeam 5 Beta Release--All New Test Execution

19-Apr-2016 by Inflectra Product News

The release of SpiraTeam 5 is getting ever closer. Thanks so much to all of you who took the time to play with the Alpha we recently released. Your feedback was greatly appreciated. Today we are sharing a beta with you to keep you in the loop about what we've been hard at work on and get your feedback.

Please Note: this beta release is NOT for use on your live Spira install. Please only use it on a fresh database server.

SpiraTeam 5 Beta is all but feature complete--but we know that there are lots of little things to iron out. If you want to try out the new features for yourself, details about how to download it are below.

What's changed since the alpha?

Reports have been improved to give you even more control over what you can view. For example, you can now get a report of a test set with not only its test cases, but also its test steps.

The new test execution page is now live. We've spoken before about completely redesiging SpiraTeam's test execution page. We had great user feedback on our suggestions and we hope we've done them justice. We think the new page balances different needs, streamlines and enhances the testing process, and will be intuitive and easy to use.

The final design for test execution has a lot in common with our initial sketches, but with more polished and a lot of little touches that address many issues customers have recently raised. We would love to know what you think so please email us.

We have more to do

A lot of other changes have happened under the hood that will make SpiraTeam faster and more stable than ever.

We want you to play with the new version to see what you think of the new design and features. But please do not take the time to share bugs or glitches with us. The kind of low-level changes we've made need a lot of testing and our engineers have a healthy list from the testing team still to work through (and we would hate for you to duplicate that effort when we know how busy you are).

Taking the Beta for a Spin

Again, please do not use this as your main Spira install - we do not want you losing any real data.

This beta is only available as a download, so you will need the usual system prerequisites (IIS web server, SQL Server database). Please use the following link for the download:
