In the meantime I have some more projects and the need that some persons need to have the role of e.g. REQ Manager and INCIDENT Manager. So I assume that I have to create a new role which has the permissions of both roles ! Is there another, better way to deal with roles and permissions ? Is there probably a plan for a next release to allow combining user roles ? I see that requirements can be marked "Obsolete". But how do you track that the requirement removal work is being performed as a requirement for Release 2.0? Is it best to create a separate requirement for this new work? Something rubs me the wrong way about having a requirement that specifies that some bit of functionality should be removed from the system. The user should be able to maintain visibility on the status of the incident as it moves through the system. Our current idea is to set up a "general" SpiraTeam project where all employees are members. A manager would periodically review entered bugs and copy them to the appropriate project for the team to review. The problem with this is that the original bug that has public visibility would not be updated as the copied incident is changed over time. Are there any recommendations for best practices around this scenario? Is a third-party bug tracking tool our only option here? Thanks in advance for any input. Here is the scenario uses in SpiraTeam: 1. You declare the Hours-per-day and Days-per-week in the Project Planning section. 2. In the Release/Iteration planning section, you declare the Iteration time box, SpiraTeam gives you the Available Effort based on the number of Resource you declared and the number of days within the Iteration that you declared. 3. SpiraTeam automatically by default, assumes that all Resources equally put in the same effort for the Iteration, which not always true since some resource might be assigned to multiple projects or taking vacations/sick, etc. 4. SpiraTeam allows you to enter the Non-working days (for vacations, sick, etc.) However, SpiraTeam does not calculate the Available Effort using Non-working Days input. Is this a Defect for release 4.0? I would love to have a feature where you can declare the Percentage of the Available Effort that each resource can contribute to a Release/Iteration. Can we have this enhancement request put on the list? Or is there a better practice to handle resources across multiple projects and Non-working-days that i'm not aware of? Any thoughts? We have situations where portions of the work needed can satisfy multiple requirements. For example, two Reports were requested by the business and each was entered as a separate requirement. We have database development tasks and Crystal Reports development tasks necessary for each. In this case, the database work will be done in one shot but it will support both Requirements. I don't think two requirements can point to the same task. Our choices seem to be to pick one of the requirements and add the task there; or, duplicate the task in both (not desirable); or, just have the task not be connected to any requirement (and just a release), which is also not desirable. Any thoughts out there on how we could better relect this work in Spira? Is there any sort of best practices documentation for release planning that I can follow? I'm particularly interested in: Setting specific resource availability, including vacation time and "non-project" time. Allocating those resources to various releases to get a breakdown by sprint of how many true development hours I have available. Real time burndown tracking showing available vs remaining hours each sprint. Efficiency metrics by developer showing how much of their project time was truly put toward project work. E.g. they have 35 hours available in a week, but only completed 30 hours of actual work. I appreciate any documentation or tips that others have founds useful. This is the same if you export documents directly to another project. Is it possible to force a copy of the documents as well? For us it is a problem if someone changes a document in project B, because it will be changed in project A as well, but the user cannot notice this. There is no possibility to see in which projects a document is used, so we cannot identify which documents are added to the project by the Export to Project functionality. If this identification is at least possible, we could manually delete this documents from the project and add them manually. For us it is neccessary to have real copies in the most cases, which are independent from each other. Any ideas how to solve this? I would like to be able to look at my release page and the column Test Coverage and quickly see how many tests have been passed, failed, cautioned, blocked, and not run. If I have multiple iterations in a release, each for a different and parallel set of functionality, should each each of those iterations have one child iteration per test cycle/run for the parent iteration? The problem is that not all test cycles, our power testing involves running all the requirements that we have recorded in the project, for example, we have 10 total requirements and the "test cycle 1" only 5 will test requirements therefore only the associated test cases run these 5 requirements. The problem we have is that in the graph of Coverage Requirements is showing us the percentage of total coverage requirements (of the 10 requirements), and if you only run in this cycle tests 5 requirements, then the graph inidca us that we still cover 50%, is there any way that the graph shows only the requirements that are running on a given cycle, or have any idea to solve this problem we have? What I have done is just create a Requirement: Rapise - Automated Test Pool, and connect every single test case that have been scripted through Rapise in to this. That way it is easy to create a report/list of test cases that have not been scripted yet. For instance, lets say we have a test set containing 6 test cases. The first two has to be executed by the person who receives the delivery, the next two test has to be executed by the person who encode the package in the system and the last two has to be executed by a SAP manager. My client wants an automatic system where when the delivery guy finishes his two tests, an email is automatically sent to the package encoder so that he knows that he can know execute his tests. Is it possible to do something like that in SpiraTest? It seem that there is no Test Case Requirements resource in the Rest API. Are there any guidelines / benchmarks for supported projects/ users? Ive searched the forums and the installation documentation and dont find something immediately. best regards - Helen Fri, 12 Feb 2021 18:13:24 -05002021-02-12T18:26:50-05:00/Support/Forum/spirateam/best-practices/2356.aspxthreadId=2597David J (support1@inflectra.com)Recommendation for cross-product testing Hi there, We have a broad set of products and use SpiraTeams to track requirements, test cases, releases and so on. We often have to create regression test suites that span products, for example to verify support for new OS versions or if we have a large multi-product release. We are in the planning phase for a large requirements restructure but what is the recommendation on how we should store requirements so that we can create test suites that span products? We will need to be able to easily manage cross-product testing and report on test runs and incidents. Will Programs work here? Or Portfolios? Im unclear of the difference (other than Portfolios require SpiraPlan). Thanks in advance. Don Mon, 04 Apr 2022 21:39:53 -04002023-09-15T18:35:48-04:00/Support/Forum/spirateam/best-practices/2597.aspx
