Reporting as Word 2007+ with embedded graphic does not work. In the description of a requirement we have embedded a picture, but when we are creating a requirement details report as Word 2007+, in the word document only a small placeholder icon with a red cross appears. Same report as HTML works fine.
In the HTML of the description we can see the beginning of the embedded picture as: figure:<br><img src="data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAmUAAAHsCAIAAAAcuk39AAAgAElEQVR4nO29fVQUZ77vy18381fY54+T2f6Bkz....

In the word document it looks like this:


Is this a known issue or are we making something wrong?
Any comments appreciated.

Hi Kai

There are some limitations currently in the MS-Word 2007+ format report with embedded images.

I would recommend the MS-Word 2003 format for such situations until v4.2 is released.

Hi,
We have SpiraTest v4.2.0.8, but we still have the same problem - no images are included into Word 2013.
If I use reporting of requirements descriptions to Word 2003 format, images are included, but unusable, since they are about 2cmx2cm size disproportionately distorted when viewed.

It turned out that it wasn't possible to include embedded graphics in Word 2007+ reports. So that is a limitation of SpiraTeam. With Word 2003 format, the embedded images should be included. I'm not sure why they are distorted for you. Could you log a Help Desk ticket for that so we can look into the details? Thanks!

Reporting when your artifacts contain images:
  • The images appear in the following output formats with no adjustments needed: PDF, HTML, and XML.
  • The images do appear in Word 2003 format, but they are all the same small size. If you must use Word format, you can adjust the report formatting. You can specify a different size for the images, but it will be the same size for every image in the report. See Writing Custom Reports with Spira Part 2.
  • The images do not appear in Word 2007+ format reports.

Hi, 

I had the same problem of not having figures in Word 2007+ reports. Very dissapointed.

Still don´t know if I will have any side effects using Word 2003 in order to get the figures.

Please prioritize this bug correction if possible.

Please note that this thread was started many years ago.  The issue of images being omitted from Word reports was fixed since then.
