(Thread)

Postman has been useful for testing SpiraTeam APIs, but Ive been wondering if there are better options as API workflows become more complex. Teams often need to: Run API tests in CI/CD Manage multiple environments Keep documentation updated Share test workflows with developers and QA Combine API design and testing Thats what led me to explore [tool name redacted] as a possible Postman alternative . It brings API design, testing, documentation, mocking, and collaboration into one workflow. For SpiraTeam users, are you still using Postman for API testing, or have you tried other tools? What has worked best for your workflow?

<a10:contributor><a10:email>support@inflectra.com</a10:email></a10:contributor><a10:id>http://www.inflectra.com/kronodesk/forums/threads</a10:id>

When Does It Make Sense to Look Beyond Postman for API Testing?

Postman has been useful for testing SpiraTeam APIs, but Ive been wondering if there are better options as API workflows become more complex. Heres a practical breakdown for SpiraTeam API testing: Postman is still solid for: Quick ad-hoc testing and exploration Sharing collections with the team Basic CI/CD via Newman (the CLI runner) Most teams already know it Where it starts to show cracks: Documentation gets stale fast - its a separate effort from the tests The free tier now has collaboration limits No built-in API design (you design elsewhere, test in Postman) The GUI tools are useful for discovery - once you know the request shape, codifying it in pytest gives you the most control and portability. Pytest + requests should be the best for CI/CD since its just code, fully version-controlled, no GUI tool dependency.
