Excel Import - Custom Lists

When I import from SPIRA my custom list items come through as a number, is there a way to import the associated value rather than the number?

No, with the Excel Add-In, only the ID of the custom list value is used. The primary purpose of the Excel Add-In is to do bulk updates of Spira. If your goal is to get information out of Spira in a format that can be distributed, you may want to try the reporting functionality instead.
