Hi,
We are struggling with the following workflow. Can you advise how to overcome this seeming limitation?
We have tests organized in many folders/subfolders by different applications/modules/features.
The tests in those folders have custom properties denoting their "Automated" status. We have both automated and not automated tests side by side in the same folders.
Now, we want to create separate test sets for the same folder trees recursively based on the "Automated" status.
However, when selecting a test case folder and using Add tests to test set feature, we can't filter the tests in any way.
Applying the filter in the Test Case folder first and then adding the test cases also doesn't help.
We would recommend going to:
Testing > Test Cases
filter by the various fields you need (in this case Type = Automated)
Use the select all button to select all the test cases
Make sure the folders themselves are not selected
Then use Tools > Add to Test Set.

This means we have to do this for each folder individually, right? I'm looking for a solution for whole folder trees, as we have quite a few of those...

Good question. No, it's not necessary to filter each folder separately. First, make sure you are at the Root level. Then apply the filter. That will show all test cases that match the filter, regardless of their folder.

thanks, but we definitely don't want all the tests from the root folder put into 1 test set.
Is it possible to do something like this (filter in folders recursively), but on other than just Root level?
I'll try again to explain how it works. Give a try and see!
When you are at the Root level, and then you filter by Custom prop="Automated" then it will show all automated test cases, regardless of their folder, in one list. I think that is what you need, if I understand you correctly.
You understand correctly, unfortunately, your proposed workflow doesn't work for me...
It looks like it works the way you describe only on Root folder level. When I drill down to subfolders, only testcases in the current folder are filtered and displayed.
The Spira version we use is 6.1.0.1.
