Article Unusual case where Rapise Cannot Click on Hyperlinks in IE

by Adam S on Tuesday, January 10, 2017

We have found an occasional situation where Rapise is not able to click on hyperlinks (<A> tags) when you playback a test on IE. The same test works fine on other computers and on other browsers on the same computer.
If you experience this issue, please try the following:
  • Open up the Internet Explorer (IE) web browser.
  • Open up another application (e.g. Notepad)
  • Position the other application over the middle of the IE browser (so the browser is partly hidden).
  • Then try playing back the test again.

This issue occurs because of weird bug in Windows and IE. The root cause is not clear. It looks like if the element is hovered and changes its style then it sometimes ignores the mouse click (sent as an event by Rapise).

When the window is covered then no 'onmouseover' happens and clicks are accepted. We think it is caused by some other software application or extension, but it is unknown which ones cause the issue.
