Continuous Integration/Automation best practice?

What are the best practices recommended for using SpiraTeam/Test in a continuous build environment?

We have a Jenkins server, which can launch RemoteLaunch, but does not receive back a result.

How does Jenkins determine if the tests succeeded, in order to know what to do next?

Hi Charlie

We just released SpiraTeam v3.2 which includes the ability to accept results from an automated build server. The next piece is to update RemoteLaunch to be able to return results back and also pass in a build-id to SpiraTeam. We're going to be releasing plugins next year (2012) for Hudson and Jenkins that will integrate with SpiraTeam v3.2.

Do you have some documentation, or more details on implementing the 3.2 ability to accept build server results?

Also, can you give any more accurate release plan for these developments?

The SpiraTeam v3.2 API includes the following new method Build_Create (...) that accepts a RemoteBuild object. That allows you to post the results to SpiraTeam.

In terms of the plans for integration with Hudson and Jenkins, that should be available in mid-February if all goes to plan.

Hi,

Thanks very much for the information, I will have a look at the new API methods.

Do you open source or collaborate on plugins and extensions?  There appears to be some crossover in our aims and current tasks.

Charlie, we generally are open to open-sourcing and/or collaboration of any of the plugins or extensions for our products. Let us know through support@inflectra.com about what you have in mind so that we can verify it against our plans.

Hi, Sorry for not replying earlier, I was focussing on Upgrade rather than my integration activities.

We are currently awaiting further information or release of your build integration plugins, and changes to RemoteLaunch, that we have been advised are coming soon.

We are currently scheduled to revisit this mid-march, and will then assess and discuss how we may progress.  I will contact support by email when we are ready to proceed.
