Article Choosing a Database to Run SpiraTeam or KronoDesk On

by Adam S on Tuesday, June 9, 2015

This article answers some common questions about which databases you can run SpiraTest, SpiraPlan, SpiraTeam and KronoDesk on, and where you can get them from.
  1. What databases can be used with the application?
SpiraTest, SpiraPlan, SpiraTeam, or KronoDesk can be run using Microsoft SQL Server 2005, 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2014 including the FREE SQL Server Express Editions. For all of the database versions, the SpiraTest, SpiraPlan, SpiraTeam, or KronoDesk installer automatically detects the database and executes the appropriate installation scripts.

  2. Where can I get a copy of Microsoft SQL Server?
You can buy the standard, workgroup or enterprise editions from either Microsoft or through your local Microsoft reseller. However if you are planning on using SQL Server just to run SpiraTest, SpiraPlan, SpiraTeam, or KronoDesk, you can now download Microsoft's FREE lightweight edition of SQL Server 2008 R2 called Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition either from the customer area section of our website, or alternatively directly from Microsoft's website: > Download a copy of SQL Server 2008 Express Edition...
