I have already set a test set and the tester has begun the rest run. I can add extra test cases to that test set. How can I add these test cases also into the existing test run?

Unfortunately that is not possible. The test run is a separate copy of the test cases that is made when you first execute. You would need to finish this run and then use the option to run individual test cases in the test set to run the additional ones subsequently.
