There is one test case that I want to link to a specific requirement, that does not show up in the list of available test cases. It doesn't matter if I browse through the tree or enter the TC number explicitly.
In the Test Cases view I can find it, though. Its properties are the same as those of some of the tests that do appear when trying to add the test case.
Please can you log a help desk ticket and include some screenshots.

The issue was that the test case was already linked.
The message said 'No available matches found' instead of the (better) 'Test case already linked'
