How to integrate a automation tool not supported by RemoteLaunch?

Friday, June 14, 2013 12:17:09 PM

I use an automation tool called "Testing Anywhere". RemoteLaunch add-in does not support the integration of this tool into SpiraTest. Is there any workaround around this? I want to integrate the tool somehow? Is it possible by writing some kind of script or code?

Hi Aniket

You have two options:

1) Use our command-line plugin for RemoteLaunch. Assuming that TestingAnywhere has a command-line interface, you can just use this plugin.

2) You could use our Spira SDK to build a custom plugin for RemoteLaunch. In the SDK there is a "SampleAutomationEngine" project that is designed to be a good starting point.

We'd also be happy to publish the finished product on our website as well. If you have specific questions about either of these options, please contact us at

Hi Adam,

I run the automated test script in the following way in the command prompt:
"C:\Program Files\Testing Anywhere 8.1\Client\TAPlayer.exe" "/fE:\User Name\My Documents\Testing Anywhere Files\Testing Anywhere\My Projects\Test.tamx/e"

TAPlayer.exe is the player which plays the recorded script
Test.tamx is the actual script

How Should I configure this format in the "automation" tab of Test Cases? What should be filled in the "Filename" field?

Hi Aniket

We just released a plugin for TestingAnywhere that handles the running of the test scripts and capturing of the results. I would recommend you try this out instead.
