Keep tickets in JIRA unassigned

We've got JIRA 6.0.5 set up with tickets being unassigned by default. Once someone starts work on an issue, they assign the ticket to themselves. However, tickets synced from SpiraTest always get assigned to someone on creation. As far as I've been able to test, if you don't assign an owner in SpiraTest (equivalent to keeping it unassigned), the sync service just assigns it to the reporter both in JIRA and SpiraTest as soon as the incident/ticket gets synced/created in JIRA. The Owner in SpiraTest is not required, just as the Assignee in JIRA isn't either.

Does anyone know of a way to keep synced tickets/incidents unassigned while syncing?

Please can you log a support ticket and let us know which version of the JIRA data-sync you are using?

I believe it's an old version, but an update of that plug-in is planned for this weekend, so if the issue still exists after that I'll log a ticket. Thanks!
