The documentation says that I can only use static labels and images in the header and footer.
My requirement is to add ProjectID into the header of the report.
I also need to add current date and page numbers in the footer.
Is this possible?
If I try to add an XML section into Header and save, my XML is removed.

That is correct.
If you want dynamic content, just add a "standard section" and use the Project Overview standard section type.
That is how we display the project name and description at the top of the report. You could display the Project ID there.
I don't see the current date as part of Project Overview. Is there a way to add current date to reports?
JavaScript in reports may help you....
If it were allowed, you may write your own JavaScript that will change anything on a frontend, overwrite any predefined styles, headers and footers.
