Hello,
I am reaching out regarding the behavior of the “Add Test Cases” dialog when adding test cases to a Test Set.
Currently, I am only able to search for a test case if I enter the full formatted ID (e.g., TC:123). Searching by just the numeric value (e.g., 123) does not return results. Additionally, partial searches such as TC:12 do not return matching cases (e.g., TC:123, TC:124, etc.).
There are two workflow limitations this creates:
1. It is not possible to search using just the numeric portion of the Test Case ID.
2. It is not possible to search for multiple test cases at once (e.g., TC:123, TC:124, TC:125).
When creating several new test cases for a feature, they are typically sequential in number. It would significantly improve usability if:
- Searching by numeric ID alone (e.g., 123) was supported.
- Partial ID searches (e.g., TC:12) returned matching results.
- Multiple IDs could be entered at once (comma-separated) to display all matches.
- The list could be sorted numerically by Test Case ID in ascending order.
At present, adding several sequential test cases requires searching and adding them one at a time, which is inefficient.
Please let me know whether any of this functionality already exists or if it can be considered as an enhancement request.
Thank you,
Jeremy Grannan
Dear Jeremy,
I think, this should be an existing enhancement logged internally.
1. Yes, it is not currently possible to search using just the numeric portion of the Test Case ID. Search works by portion of test case name, while test case ID should be written in the format e.g. TC:123
2. Correct, this is not possible at this moment to search for multiple test cases at once (e.g., TC:123, TC:124, TC:125).
For more assistance contact support directly in a dedicated ticket, I think there is an existing enhancement logged internally and you can add your vote to speedup the process.
