Hello,
currently we are using Version 3.2. In the manual it says if you start the installer it automatically detects if you there is Spira installed on the computer but when I run it it didnt.
So how should I install the new version optimally?

1. Backup DB
2. Install
3. Restore DB Backup?

And then just run the patch for version 4.0?

Thank you in Advance

Hi Isabell

If the installer doesn't display the "Upgrading your installation to v4.0" on the first page of the wizard, it means that it cannot detect the existing v3.2 installation. This can happen if the files and database were just copied onto the machine from another server.

Unfortunately the proposed steps won't work because the database backup will still be in the v3.2 format. The solution is:

  1. Backup 3.2 database and attachments folder
  2. Uninstall v3.2 or if not listed in control panel, just delete the database
  3. Install v3.2 as a clean installation
  4. Delete the empty v3.2 database and restore back your v3.2 database
  5. Now run the v4.0 installer and it will now correctly detect and upgrade your v3.2 installation to v4.0.
