How to add custom columns in SpiraTeam Test Sets?

Quote from online manual on Inflectra.com

"5.7.8. Show / Hide Columns

This drop-down list allows you to change the fields that are displayed in the test set list as columns for the current project. To show a column that is not already displayed, simply select that column from the list of "Show…" column names and to hide an existing column, simply select that column from the list of "Hide…" column names. This is stored on a per-project basis, so you can have different display settings for each project that you are a member of. The fields can be any of the built-in fields or any of the custom properties set up by the project owner."

How do I add my own column to the Show/Hide columns list? Looking in Custom List and Custom Properties, but cannot find out where to add my own column.

Hi Ruth,

Custom properties that have already been defined in administration will appear in the Show/Hide Columns dropdown automatically. I presume you are asking how to define custom properties?

First you'd need a role with Project Admin permission. Then go to Administration -> Custom Properties -> Edit Custom Properties. There you'll see a list of the currently-defined properties for Requirements. You can use the Artifact Type dropdown to select a different artifact (Test Case, Incident, etc). To add a new property, click on Add Definition.

In SpiraTest/SpiraTeam, the Show/Hide Columns list doesn’t directly take “new columns” from Custom Lists. Instead, what appears there is driven by artifact fields and custom properties defined at the project level.

To add your own column, you need to:

  • Go to Administration → Projects → Your Project
  • Open Custom Properties
  • Add a new custom property to the relevant artifact (e.g., Test Case, Test Set, etc.)
  • Save and publish the changes

Once created, that custom property will automatically appear in the Show/Hide Columns dropdown for that artifact list.

Also, if you're working with screenshots of configuration steps, using tools like ai ปรับรูปให้ชัด can help make UI details clearer when documenting or sharing setup instructions
