Inflectra Introduces Spira AI Connect: A Unified Bring-Your-Own-LLM Connector for On-Premise Spira Customers

1-Jun-2026 by Adam Sandman Product News

Inflectra is pleased to announce the upcoming release this month of Spira AI Connect, a new unified SpiraApp that will enable on-premise Spira customers to connect their own preferred large language model provider to the Spira platform.

What is Spira AI Connect?

As more organizations adopt AI-assisted software delivery, many regulated, security-conscious, and enterprise customers want the benefits of AI while retaining control over their data, infrastructure, and model provider relationships. Spira AI Connect is designed for exactly that need. It gives customers a flexible, maintainable way to integrate Spira with their own AI provider, while keeping deployment decisions aligned with internal governance, compliance, and security requirements.

Spira AI Connect replaces Inflectra’s existing provider-specific SpiraApps for OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, and Amazon Bedrock. Instead of maintaining separate connectors for each provider, Inflectra is consolidating these capabilities into a single, extensible SpiraApp that supports multiple AI connection patterns through a common configuration model.

Spira AI Connect Settings

The new Spira AI Connect SpiraApp will support both REST API and Amazon Bedrock API interfaces, allowing customers to bring their own LLM from a range of supported providers and deployment models. This makes it easier for organizations to standardize how Spira connects to AI services, whether they are using cloud-hosted models, enterprise AI gateways, private model endpoints, or AWS-native Bedrock deployments.

Why Spira AI Connect Matters

For on-premise Spira customers, AI adoption is rarely just a technical decision. Many organizations need to answer important questions before enabling AI inside their software lifecycle platform:

  • Can we control which model is used?
  • Can we route AI requests through an approved enterprise endpoint?
  • Can we use our own cloud account or AI provider contract?
  • Can we align usage with internal privacy, security, and regulatory policies?
  • Can we avoid being locked into a single AI vendor?

Spira AI Connect helps address these concerns by giving customers a more flexible “bring your own LLM” architecture. Instead of being tied to a single AI provider, organizations can configure Spira to connect to the AI service that best fits their needs.

This approach is especially valuable for customers in industries such as healthcare, life sciences, financial services, defense, government, and other regulated sectors where data control, auditability, vendor governance, and deployment architecture are key considerations.

A Simpler, More Sustainable AI Integration Model

Previously, we provided separate SpiraApps for OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, and Amazon Bedrock. While this made it possible to connect to different AI providers, it also created separate configuration paths and separate maintenance tracks.

Spira AI Connect simplifies that model.

Going forward, we will focus ongoing maintenance, enhancements, and new AI connectivity features on Spira AI Connect. The existing OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, and Amazon Bedrock SpiraApps will be phased out over time, with customers encouraged to migrate to the new unified connector.

This consolidation allows us to deliver improvements faster and provide a more consistent experience across supported AI providers and integration types.

Designed for Enterprise AI Flexibility

Spira AI Connect is built around the principle that customers should be able to decide how AI is introduced into their software delivery lifecycle.

With support for REST API and Bedrock API interfaces, organizations can connect Spira to approved LLM endpoints while preserving their preferred operating model. This may include direct connections to commercial LLM providers, connections through enterprise AI gateways, or model access through Amazon Bedrock.

This flexibility enables teams to use AI capabilities in Spira while aligning with internal policies for data residency, access control, procurement, monitoring, and model governance.

Choice of Models and Prompt Customization

Spira AI Connect also gives organizations control over how AI behaves inside Spira. Administrators can customize the prompts used for AI-powered features, allowing teams to align responses with their internal terminology, regulatory context, engineering standards, and preferred style of analysis.

Customize AI Prompts

In addition, customers can choose which model is used for their Spira AI workflows, whether that is a general-purpose LLM, a provider-specific model, or a model approved through an internal enterprise AI gateway. This flexibility helps organizations tune Spira’s AI capabilities for different use cases, such as requirements analysis, test case generation, risk review, documentation support, or compliance-focused evaluation, while maintaining governance over both the instructions sent to the model and the model selected to process them.

Supporting the Future of AI in Spira

Spira AI Connect will serve as the foundation for Inflectra’s future on-premise AI connectivity strategy. As AI capabilities in Spira continue to expand, the new connector will provide a cleaner and more scalable way for customers to connect Spira to the models and AI services they trust.

By unifying provider connectivity into a single maintained SpiraApp, Inflectra is making it easier for customers to adopt AI on their own terms while reducing administrative complexity.

Availability and Migration

Spira AI Connect will replace the existing OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, and Amazon Bedrock SpiraApps for on-premise Spira deployments. The older provider-specific SpiraApps will be phased out, and future enhancements will be delivered through Spira AI Connect.

Customers currently using one of the existing AI provider SpiraApps should plan to migrate to Spira AI Connect as it becomes available. Inflectra will provide guidance to help customers transition their configurations to the new unified connector.

For our cloud customers, nothing changes, our recommended AI solution is the fully managed Inflectra.ai SaaS platform that lets Inflectra manage the LLM for you, and take care of all the security and guardrails.
