Inflectra Supports the Association for Software Testing CAST 2010 Conference

23-Jul-2010 by Inflectra Press Release

Inflectra Corporation, Silver Spring, MD) today announced its sponsorship of CAST 2010, the fifth annual Conference of the Association for Software Testing (CAST) set for Aug. 2 - 4 in Grand Rapids, MI.

CAST 2010 is about testing skills. Learning, observing, problem solving, understanding, decision making, and applying knowledge and experience to new challenges. Do technical or domain skills impact testing?  What about other skill sets? CAST 2010 provides a venue to explore these questions and help us understand what makes a great tester.

The primary mission of CAST 2010 is to help build an active community of software testing scholars, practitioners, and learners who positively influence the practice of software testing.

As a sponsor of the conference, Inflectra continues to support the software testing community as development, management and business stakeholders within the software testing and software quality assurance fields gather annually to exchange ideas, experiences and best practices.

The Association for Software Testing is a non-profit professional organization dedicated to advancing the understanding and practice of software testing through research and education. The AST serves a community of scholars, students, and software development practitioners by providing forums for discussion of all aspects of software testing through conferences, publications, web sites, and other services.

AST works on advancing both theory and practice, with its primary focus on testing practice. Our objective is to build a community of testing practitioners, academics, managers, and consultants who view the role of testing as skilled, relevant, and essential to the production of better software. We value a scientific approach to developing and evaluating techniques, processes, and tools. We believe that a self-aware, self-critical attitude is essential to understanding and assessing the impact of new ideas on the practice of testing.

In pursuit of these goals, AST holds an annual conference (CAST) and sponsors other events, including peer workshops. The most distinguishing characteristic of all of these events is that the ideas presented are subject to the generative scrutiny of all attendees via a moderated, collegial discussion of the work and its impact.
