SpiraCapture Revamped To Improve Spira Integration

12-Dec-2022 by Inflectra Product News

We are excited to announce that we have released a new version of our highly acclaimed exploratory testing tool - SpiraCapture. The new version has been revamped and updated to now support deeper integration with SpiraPlan as well as provide support for the new Google Chrome manifest version 3.

Revamped Spira Integration

SpiraCapture now provides the ability to fill out the incident details form in a similar way to how these details are filled out within SpiraPlan. This allows SpiraCapture to be a one stop shop for incident creation in SpiraPlan during exploratory testing.

The form is created based on the incident workflow for the product and incident type selected, which allows the person using it to know what information they need to fill out without needing to go into SpiraPlan to do so afterwards.

Other Fixes

This update also comes with some bug fixes, so issues with creating incidents that people ran into before (such as custom properties with “Allow empty” set to “No” or failed screenshots blocking incident creation) should no longer be an issue.

What Is Exploratory Testing?

Cem Kaner, who coined the term Exploratory Testing, described it as "a style of software testing that emphasizes the personal freedom and responsibility of the individual tester.”

During this freeform, intuitive approach to testing, the testing steps and path are not predefined and have to be manually captured. The flow and steps of a testing session are important for effective communication between testers and developers.
