Single Sign On (SSO)

Single Sign-On (SSO) is an enterprise user authentication tool that enables users to log in to and access multiple applications, websites, and data using just one set of credentials. Compliance relies on identity management, knowing who a user is at all times. SpiraPlan includes support for SSO out of the box in all versions, at no additional cost.

Single Sign On (SSO) With OAuth 2.x

When you login to SpiraPlan, you normally enter in a login and password that is managed and stored specifically by SpiraPlan internally. However, for larger enterprises, there is often a desire to centralize (for security and compliance reasons) the users that can access the various IT systems in the organization, and to have a central place to manage passwords and whether a user is allowed to access a specific system. SpiraPlan supports this in two ways: Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) and the newer Open Authentication (OAuth) Protocol (also known as OpenID Connect).

When you enable OAuth support in Spira, your users will be given a choice of logging in as normal with a Spira login and password, or using an external provider:

Azure AD (Entra ID) Support

Microsoft Entra ID (formerly known as Azure Active Directory) is a cloud-based identity and access management solution. It is a directory and identity management service that operates in the cloud and offers authentication and authorization services to various Microsoft services such as Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, and Microsoft Azure.

SpiraPlan includes a dedicated OAuth provider for Entra ID / Azure AD that lets you leverage its unique capabilities for identity management.

OKTA Support

Okta is an identity and access management (IAM) service that provides a secure, single sign-on (SSO) solution for businesses. It is a cloud-based platform that helps organizations securely manage user identities, access rights, and credentials across multiple applications, websites, and databases. It also provides a central hub for user authentication and authorization, allowing users to easily log in to multiple applications and websites with one set of credentials. It is used by thousands of organizations worldwide, including major corporations and governmental agencies.

SpiraPlan includes a dedicated OAuth provider for Okta that lets you leverage its unique capabilities for identity management.

OneLogin Support

OneLogin is a cloud-based identity and access management provider that provides a unified access management platform for enterprise-level businesses and organizations.

SpiraPlan includes a dedicated OAuth provider for OneLogin that lets you leverage its unique capabilities for identity management.

Other Providers

In addition, SpiraPlan includes a variety of other OAuth providers such as GitHub, GitLab, Google Workspace, Microsoft Active Directory Federated Services (ADFS) and a generic OpenID Connect provider.

This generic OpenID Connect provider only uses the minimal number of required "OAuth 2.0" claims and therefore should work with any OAuth 2.0 based solution that doesn't deviate from the OpenID Connect standard. This is a great option for customers that have an in-house OAuth based identity management platform.
